Everybody Poops…

Everybody poops, it’s not weird…we can talk about it. As parents were constantly examining our babies from head to toes. That also includes their diaper. Some unusual tips/advice is given below from moms in a local mom group on Facebook as well as a few of my personal friend’s experiences to hopefully give you some peace of mind…and save you an awkward Google search or two.

“Some people say it’s common for babies not to poop for a few days, while that may be true- it’s definitely not normal. Breastfed babies poop is water soluble, as long as they’re only getting breast milk. So, if you get some on you just throw the clothes in the washer and hop in the shower. (Also, pick up your gold start cause now you’re officially a parent.) Tummy time is vital for regular poops. We also gave our baby a probiotic to help keep her regular. Tummy massages and Mylicon will help keep everything moving as well.” -Sydney Mosley

“Umm, they poop, ALOT. Nobody warned me. I would CRY cause I’d wake up after only getting 45 minutes of sleep, change him, he’d poop right after, change him again, feed him, he’d poop during the feed, change him, he’d be hungry still, feed him again, he’d poop again… repeat, by the time you finally got done changing all the diapers and feeding him, it was time for the next feed in 45 minutes…” -CreativeLizard1070

“I have to sing Jingle Bells while I change my daughter’s diaper otherwise she screams. No other song will calm her.” -Jade Jewel Mead

“Poop colors/consistency[varies] and it being half and half sometimes? Like oh half is green half is yellow and seedy.” -Darien Boggs

“Google can be your best friend & your enemy. Grey poop doesn’t always mean she is dying of liver failure.”- Julianna Holman

“If your kid hasn’t pooped in a few days, take a q-tip and put a little vaseline on it, GENTLY stick it … you know where, and sit back. Don’t be surprised if it all comes out at once.” -Rob Mansfield
